The electronics patents team of Brookes Batchellor, Patent Attorneys based in Tunbridge Wells and Clerkenwell, London, have just come back from the excellent NEW Electronics Exhibition at the NEC.
We put together a new stand and exhibition package around the theme of “Is Your Idea Safe?” This is really at the crux of what the Intellectual Property profession is all about – helping clients to protect their ideas, whether they are technological, commercial or creative, so that they, and not their competitors, gain the full commercial value from them.
So it was good to see just how many UK companies are developing new ideas that they can protect and which will give them an advantage in the ever more competitive global electronics market.
And it was even better to see that others are thinking about it, like one of our fellow exhibitors, who currently resells testing and inspection units. He recognised, however, that one route to earning higher profit margins is creating his own products to give his company something distinctive and deliver higher value. With new technology, protected by patent and trade marks, he might even be able to license out his intellectual property or build products to be sold through other’s distribution channels. That, in a nutshell, is what patent protection is for and where a patent attorney is ideally placed to deliver commercial value for you.
The firm is now looking forward to its next exhibitions; we’ve already booked for the Southern Electronics exhibition in February 2012. If you’d like to arrange a meeting with Brookes Batchellor there or see us at another show, just let us know! Phone Rosemary Eve on 01892 510600 or Gareth Holliday on 0207 253 1563.
